Kibbitz Model – Offering an alternative solution to Frail care 7 October – Plenary Stream

R690.00

COVID-19 has highlighted the importance of rethinking assisted living and frail care models. The immediate lockup of older persons in these environments, some for an extended period, without contact with family has had a marked effect on the health and wellbeing of residents. The very thing which these facilities are supposed to offering. There needs to be a shift in how we think about our role in care.

What the audience can learn

  • Why maintaining patient’s dignity and independence (yes – even in frail care – is of importance.
  • Institutionalism – and why this is not ‘care’.
  • The Kibbutz model – how it works, and why it forms ‘an ethics of care’
